Maria was born in Matamoros, Mexico, the 7th of 9 children. Her father, with only a second grade education, was a master tailor and owned his own tailor shop from the time he was 21. At the age of ten, Maria’s family immigrated to America for a “better” life.
At the age of 15, Maria left home and school to get married and have her first of 5 children. Now at the age of 54, she also has 15 grandchildren. After 15 years of marriage to the father of her children, she found herself divorced and without a home. A year or so after her divorce, she married Kendall who was just crazy enough to take on a family of six.
Three years prior to Avon, Kendall and Maria started a wholesale business called KLM (Kendall Loves Maria). KLM was a wholesale tobacco business, where they serviced accounts across about one third of Texas. Kendall and Maria also opened and operated two retail locations. In their third year of business, KLM was doing a little more than $3,000,000 in sales. They were very successful entrepreneurs!
Maria’s original reason for signing up with Avon was to buy wholesale. However, within her first year she had sold over $30,000 worth of Avon product, and that’s without ever making a delivery, by using the E-Rep site all Avon Reps get for free. When Maria's up-line approached her with the idea of helping her become a SEUL this was to be done by increasing Marias leadership level to EUL and Maria figured, "If I can sell that amount without a lot of effort then there must be more to this “Little Avon Thing” ."
At the time her up-line approached Maria, she was just a UL and to accomplish the goal, she needed to be a EUL. So working together with her upline everyday, ALL day, they went out tailgating. Within (1) campaign, Maria went from a UL to a EUL and her up-line became a SEUL. Oh, one side note to the story, it was done the old way, with six UL.
